Our goal for this month is to continue to unpack our faith, by exploring a host of ‘Church’ words. My experience has been that most of us have heard words and even used words that we’re not exactly sure what they mean. Our series for May will help take some of the mystery out of these mysterious words. I hope that you can join us as we learn together about “Church Words with Friends”.  We will once again give you an opportunity to ask questions about words each week either by email to me at tnelson@firstchurchpo.org or by placing questions in the offering plate.  We will even take a few questions during service. I love the thought that the only dumb question is the unasked question. So ask away and together we can explore more about God.  I can’t wait to see you in worship!

1. Evangelism – Actively witnessing to the miracle of Christ’s saving grace.

2. Discipleship – Training in God’s Word and encouraging in faith.

Does the New Year offer you a fresh start or a reminder of what is keeping you down? This month we will visit many “Hot Buttons” that steal our joy. What does the Scripture say about these things? What does it take to have a full life in the midst of today’s problems? Join us for this important discussion.

 8th Do I Matter?  The fear of a life without purpose permeates the world today.  How can we be sure that our lives take us beyond ambiguity?

15^th Where do I Find God Today?  Far too often our faith is perceived and taught as rules for good living. People have rebelled against being told about God and are more open to finding God’s truth for themselves. How is this possible?

22^nd  Where are the Leaders?    With knowledge base that far exceeds human capacity it would seem we can find answers, but with the loss of strong life role models, direction for our lives is more difficult than ever before.

 29th  Are we getting anywhere?  The Church today is accused of ‘Talking a Good Game’ . This week we will take the year in review and see our actions and, more importantly, God’s hand at First Church. [Fifth Sunday - One Service at 10:00AM]

Great courage often comes in small packages. What are things we need to stand for today. What happens when we don’t and when we do. Where do we need to stop going along and start following.

Taking the next step. Not only following the right way, but being agents of change. What will it take to lead courageously. How leading in Christ is an adventure.
