May
18th Senior Celebration Dinner
In honor of our
two upcoming senior graduates: Jill Brownfield and Grace O’Neal, we
will be having a celebration dinner with the whole youth group. We
will be reminiscing their years apart of the youth group and how
much they mean to all of us. Congratulations Grace and Jill on
graduating high school and going off to college!
SUNDAY NIGHT SERIES: REFLECTION
What do you see
when you look in the mirror? Many of us see what we’re not instead
of who we actually are, don’t we? We see someone who burned dinner
or spilled juice on the carpet. Someone who lost her car keys—again.
Someone who is not the right height or weight. Someone plagued with
could-have-beens and if-onlys. These disappointments and
imperfections are why we want to cover up who we really are. We want
to make sure that the world around us sees only the version of us
that we want them to see. But the Bible tells us we are children of
God—loved and treasured exactly as we are. Over the next two weeks,
we are going to challenge your child to take a look at him or
herself and dare to be real.
WEDNESDAY
NIGHT SERIES:
BLING & ELEVATE
“Bling” is a
three-session unit that helps students think about money and how
they use it. Teenagers and young adults have many products marketed
to them with messages such as, “You gotta have this!” and “This will
make you prettier” or “smarter” or “cooler.” Students can start now
to develop faithful financial habits.
“Elevate” is a
two-session unit that takes a look at the influence we allow our
friends to have on us. The idea is that our friends either elevate
us or drag us down. Young people especially tend to let their
friends, good ones and not-so-good ones, have unlimited influence on
their decisions and, sometimes, their character. This unit helps
students make good choices about who they will be influenced by.
